Elegant bedroom update

A once dowdy space now brims with quiet beauty and smart style ideas

A drab coffee-coloured feature wall in this bedroom was only outdone by a dated light fitting; a makeover beckoned, with interior designer Victoria Waters working her magic to transform the space. “It was a beautiful room, but it needed more contemporary pieces to reflect the owners’ style,” recalls Victoria. A deft touch has since transformed this room into a bright and inviting space.

A whole new look was needed for this bedroom, and Victoria delivered with a fresh new coat of Dulux Whisper White paint and a clever built-in window seat, complete with storage, making the biggest impact. The drawers beneath are the perfect repository for shoes, while the luxurious velvet upholstery in a delicate shade of aqua adds to the room’s restful vibe.

The elegant ‘Florence’ side table from La Maison works with the room’s pared-back aesthetic and complements the existing timber bed frame. A pretty ‘Madison Complete’ lamp from Laura Ashley delivers task lighting for bedtime reading.

The shoe drawers have proven invaluable and have turned a formerly dead space into a pretty and practical zone. The long, window seat pad, upholstered in ‘Brussels’ velvet by Elliott Clarke, ups the comfort factor

Layers of aqua and golden beige textures tie in beautifully with the upholstered velvet window seat. The ‘Antilla’ quilt, throw and cushions are from Laura Ashley.
