A tired, post-war Brisbane home has been transformed into a tranquil haven by its design-savvy owners

An understated palette of white, with the occasional dip of blue, has helped create a polished boho aesthetic in this Brisbane abode.

Bohemian rhapsody

A reclaimed timber console from Indigo Love Collectors is the perfect foundation for displaying decorative pieces in the living room.

Kitchen

A simple yet chic scheme in the kitchen was achieved with white cabinetry, concrete-look Yamaroo Matte benchtops from Bunnings and timeless subway tiles. Because the tiles have organic edges, they tie in with the subtle heritage elements throughout.” For similar tiles try Kalafrana Ceramics. The large window out to the deck enhances the connection between indoors and out and acts as a wonderful servery for the family.

Living room

Cushions from Vintage Beach Shack and Canvas+Sasson pick up the tones of a Warranbrooke artwork titled ‘Deep Sea’. During the renovation, beautiful timber floors were unearthed and restored to their original glory, with intricate cornicing and a picture rail added as a nod to the home’s heritage. On the floor is a ribbed rug from Tribe Home, which provides a lovely feel underfoot, and anchors a sofa from Ikea.

Bathroom

The new-look bathroom is far more spacious than the previous incarnation, with the layout re-worked to make a focal point of the freestanding bath and feature wall. The hexagonal mosaic tiles, a mix of beautiful grey tones with hints of beige, are from Bunnings. A floating vanity from Reece introduces an element of warmth, with a pendant light from Milk & Sugar and black tapware, also from Reece, adding punch.

Main bedroom

A photographic print called ‘Native Floral’ by Warranbrooke inspired the soft pink palette of the bedroom, with the bed below dressed in a mix of linen and pretty cushions from Città Design. Gorgeous side tables and a dresser from Xavier Furniture add to the eclectic mix, while venetians and sheer curtains diffuse early morning sunlight. Overhead, a pendant from Mediterranean Markets creates another textural element.
