Bring your kitchen up‑to‑date with these quick cosmetic remedies.

Lighten and brighten

Update the look of yellowing appliances, such as the fridge, with white appliance spray paint. Expect big results for under $20 spent at your local hardware store!

Extend shelf life

Replace broken shelves, or add extra ones, inside kitchen cupboards using sheets of off-the-shelf melamine. Just measure, cut and install.

Have the edge

If the edges of shelves, cupboard doors and drawers are peeling, fix them up with iron-on melamine edging. It’s easy to DIY and costs less than $1 per metre.

Be detailed

Neaten the appearance of the inside of your cupboards by swapping old, mismatched (or missing) shelf supports with shiny new ones. Find them in hardware stores.
