1. Be bold with your design

Adding wallpaper and statement lighting brings instant glamour to a space, no matter the size of your kitchen. Wallpaper is an easy addition and can bring colour into the space where structural changes are limited or out of the question. Paired with crisp white cabinetry and metallic handles, these are simple cosmetic updates that raise the bar in the glamour stakes.

2. Open plan design

Where possible, remove walls to open up the areas between kitchen, dining and living rooms to create a larger sense of scale in the space. Rather than closing in this staircase, metal balustrades disappear with a view to the kitchen from the living room and allow for more floorspace and generous size of the island bench.

3. Polished concrete flooring

Concrete floors polished to a high shine adds drama to a kitchen and accentuates the sense of openness. For open plan living where kitchen flows into dining and beyond, concrete extends the space visually by drawing the eye along, borrowing from adjacent areas.

4. Marble – all the way

Nothing beats marble to say luxury in the kitchen. Choose for benchtops for elegance and subtle luxury, or for a real showstopper indulge in marble splashbacks to complete the look. Choose cabinetry and lighting in all white or black to really make the marble pop and add large glass pendants to catch the natural light during the day.
