Why the makeover?
Sandra and Steve’s damp 1980s-era family bathroom – complete with multi-coloured tiles – was not pleasant to be in. The room had been flooded a couple of times, tiles were lifting up from the floor and the cabinets were beginning to rot.
Time frame
Three months.
The works
Interior designer Fiona Parry-Jones was enlisted to revamp the washzone, stripping out the old fittings and installing new plumbing, joinery, tiles and a custom shower screen.
Major changes
The layout was switched around so the bath is now on view from the entry.
Budget saver
The heated towel rail was salvaged from their old bathroom to incorporate into the new zone.
Basin
With a “stylish but practical” brief front of mind, Fiona opted for an earthy moulded-concrete basin and vanity that works a visual treat with a floating cabinet in Blackened Linewood Laminex.
Shower
The no-barrier appeal of this on-trend open shower packs both a stylish and practical punch. It gives the bathroom a distinct designer feel, as well as introducing a luxurious sense of space.
Bath
An ultra-luxurious bathing experience was at the top of the homeowners’ wishlist. This Platine ‘Luna’ stone bath, set against the feature wall of striking porcelain timber-look feature tiles from Tiento Tiles certainly fits the bill.
Flooring
Hard-wearing, large-format matt porcelain tiles in dramatic Dark Grey from Tiento Tiles add impact and mimic the timeless look and feel of natural stone, without the maintenance issues.
