Dining area
Two delightful paintings by Beverley Tainton anchor the dining room and are an uncanny reflection of the bush outside. The oak dining table from The Modern is paired with Vitra ‘Tip Ton’ chairs from Space Furniture, to provide a contemporary match to the joinery.
Kitchen
The island bench, topped in Carrara Quartz reconstituted stone, is finished with a display corner in Eveneer ‘Sirocco’ veneer. Storage has been slotted where it’s needed.
Outdoor area
The indoor living area flows easily on to the deck, an ideal spot to watch wallabies. Tribu chairs from Cosh Living (for similar, try Manutti ‘Echo’) have woven-style backs.
Ensuite
Plenty of natural light from a bank of windows and the lightwell over the shower gives the main bedroom’s ensuite a day-spa vibe. A streamlined floating vanity creates a sense of space for two, the Percorsi Extra floor tiles in ‘Pietra Di Faedis Spazzolato’ from Parrella Tiles keep to the minimal palette throughout, and a step-up bath adds a touch of luxury.
Main bedroom
The bed faces an idyllic bush view, with a walk-through robe and ensuite tucked behind. The wall separating the spaces has been treated like furniture, with chic openings on either side. And then there’s that glorious terrace – one of two upstairs.
Terrace
The terrace provides a sense of openness and connection to the outside. Against a minimal backdrop, shapely pieces stand out, including an ‘Eames DCW’ timber chair by Matt Blatt and an artwork. The pop-out window to the side has been designed to frame a very exceptional view of the sun rising.
Sauna
A European-style sauna has been given an Aussie twist: a bushland view. A Slättö screen from Ikea with Warwick ‘Giardina Eclipse’ panels of fabric (for similar, try ‘Piaf Primrose’) preserves privacy. To counteract the Brisbane heat, a cold shower has been added.
Study
The inspiring shared study has an enviable view of the landscape, thanks to the expansive corner window. Jumbo knitting needles aren’t just for show, but are used to make super-sized works. A retro-inspired ‘Cyclone’ table and ‘Eames LCW’ chairs from Matt Blatt are contemporary work choices and sit in front of a framed black-and-white photograph by Christine Baur.
