Our favourite renovating show House Rules is back for a fifth season this year, with some new faces in the mix who are bound to shake things up- HB’s own Wendy Moore has given us some insight into the new team.
Larger-than-life British personality Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen will join the judging panel in 2017, bringing with him expertise and experience from his work as a Homestyle consultant and his appearances on Changing Rooms UK.
Known for designs as colourful as his character, Laurence has over three decades of experience in the field and an innate instinct for interior trends
But when it comes to the show he says he’s not afraid to play the bad cop, “I’m incredibly passionate about encouraging Australians to discover the potential within their own home. I do have a reputation for being quite tough... and that's putting it mildly.”
Wendy says he’s a master of colour and pattern, “with the benefit of being endlessly entertaining,” she adds.
In quite the juxtaposition, award winning Australian architect and builder Drew Heath is another new addition, recognised for his organic handmade and handcrafted building designs and his ability to create a sense of well-being and calm within the home. House Rules will be his first big gig in TV.
“Professionally they both bring completely different skills to the show … Drew has a natural simplicity to his design and the added skill of building expertise,” Wendy explains.
There has quite a bit of disagreement between us all - it hasn't escalated to fisticuffs yet - but there's still time!”
As for being out-dressed by her co-stars, Wendy’s already admitted defeat. “I resigned myself quite early to the fact that Laurence will, without fail, always outdo me in the fashion department… His cufflinks collection alone inspires awe!”
We can’t wait!
