Showcasing local designers, makers and creators, the markets will be teaming up with payments provider Square on Saturday 29 July.

In a first for Etsy-supported markets, all vendors will be equipped with a Square Reader, making it easier to shop and pay directly at the market via credit, debit card or mobile payments without having to visit an ATM.

“Etsy offers the most respected and trusted marketplace for creatives and small businesses while Square delivers industry-leading payment technology,” said Sydney-based candlemaker Becky Hutley from Hutwoods (hutwoods.etsy.com).

“Markets have been crucial in the development of Hutwoods over the years and card readers like Square have been crucial in allowing us to be more appealing to customers and offering added payment flexibility. As more and more people become ‘cashless’, it’s vital to accommodate to their needs and make it easier than ever to purchase the products they’d like,” she said.
