Brisbane-based interior designer Judy Elliott of Verandah House Interiors created her ensuite in a former bedroom, hence its grand proportions. Inspired by the decadence and flair of the 1930s, she scoured markets and antiques stores for steals she could repurpose, from the ornate carved mirror above the claw-foot tub, now spray-painted white, to the burnished pendant light, sourced in America. These elements are positioned opposite the room’s entry for a stunning first impression. The more functional fixtures sit on the periphery, with the toilet and shower tucked into the corner on one side and the glamorous vanity on the other.
EXPERT TIP: Symmetrical designs with striking edges evoke the elegance of the Art Deco era.
