Practicality was first and foremost when it came to renovating a new bathroom for the owners’ two boys. The original room hadn’t been touched since the ’80s, with garish green tiles and an awkward layout. The aim was to modernise the room but give it a classic look. Oversized white ceramic wall tiles and neutral-honed marble floor tiles provide a fresh (and easy to clean) backdrop for beautiful classic fixtures, such as the roll-top freestanding bath, twin pedestal basins and traditional chandelier. The frameless glass shower adds a modern element and enhances the feeling of lightness.
Twin basins give the boys plenty of space and prevent scuffles over the basin each morning and night.
The adjacent built-in cabinetry helps them keep their new bathroom tidy and ties in with the old-world character of the Federation house. Two timber-framed mirrors above the basins provide the finishing touch and offer a dramatic point of difference among the abundance of white surfaces.
