1. Haymes

The Matte Polish range comes in the softest colour palette and creates the effect of old Venice on your walls. “The product is so forgiving, it just settles back onto the wall,” says Wendy Rennie, Colour & Concept Manager at Haymes Paint.

2. Dulux Design Effects collection

With choices running the full textural gammit from shimmering metallics to rusted metal, Dulux Design Effects collection has plenty to choose from. The Suede Effect range is a water based finish that gives a matt is easily applied using a brush in random or criss-cross motions. Dulux advises using a 12mm nap roller to cut in the edges first (create a wet edge) and then apply it in the random motion with a 3-4 inch brush. With a touch-dry time of just 2 hours and recoat time is 2hrs as well (based at 25 degrees), its simple to do yourself.

3. Bauwerk

An entirely natural product made from mineral clay, the entire paint range from Bauwerk gives a beautiful, soft texture as it goes on the wall. Don’t think this limits your colour options however – there are over 350 natural colours to choose from, all made with natural pigments.

 “One of the reasons our paint looks so beautiful on the wall is because of the mineral structure,” she says. “The light hits the calcine nature of the limestone – the paint’s main ingredient – and it refracts like a crystal, with light bouncing off in millions of waves, ” says Bronwyn Reidel, co-founder.
