This country home is a total charmer
Country welcome
Once clad in asbestos, the exterior of this home now has a crisp, coast-meets-country feel thanks to Weathertex cladding and black-and-white striped awnings from Highland Blinds.

Custom-built kitchen
The couple loves to entertain so the kitchen revolves around a big island bench, paired with rattan bar stools from Villa Maison. A trio of ‘Oregon’ pendant lights in chrome (available from Mica Lighting) hangs above.

Light-filled dining room
The new kitchen and dining space boasts soaring cathedral ceilings and a series of skylights that flood the area with light all year round. The floors are cypress pine stained a rich chocolate brown. “I love the colour – it just really pops against the white,” says the homeowner.

Dining delight
The hand-crafted dining table is made from reclaimed red iron bark timber. The Windsor dining chairs were a Gumtree find that were sanded back and painted black. “They add a bit of farmhouse style,” says the owner.

Lovely living
Winters can be bitter in the Southern Hightlands, so the owners chose a leather couch from Freedom, and cosied it up with a throw and floor cushion from The Design Hunter, and cushions from Etsy store Whitlock & Co.

Master bedroom
To create a restful retreat, the furnishings in the master bedroom were kept to a minimum with impact provided by the coastal colour palette. Throws from Laura Ashley (on the bed) and Pottery Barn (on the Chesterfield) provide layers of texture. A Martha Stewart Collection ‘Le Papillon’ polished nickel bed frame from Coco Republic delivers understated glamour.

Ensuite
The rectanglular-shaped basin mimics the lines of a traditional farmhouse sink; for similar, try the ‘Porcher Quatre’ from Reece.

Boys' room
Splashes of yellow and turquoise give the eldest boy's room a mature but light-hearted feel. The graphic-look bedlinen, throw rug and yellow table are all from Adairs. For similar bunks, try Harvey Norman.

Exterior
The north-east-facing rear of the house is a sun trap, making the paved area, with its Domayne dining setting and bright cushions from Opus Design Co, a favourite spot.
