1. Sink selection
Opting for a vessel sink – one that sits on top the vanity rather than integrated within – frees up space beneath for more storage. Some drawers have cutouts to accommodate plumbing too, so you can still use the space around pipework for small items.
2. Use the wall
Recessing an above-basin cabinet into the wall cavity helps use every inch of space, not only helpful in small bathrooms, but also less obtrusive in a large room.
3. Think tall
Using the height of the room is essential in a relatively compact space. A tall towel ladder looks great, and it can fit several towels at once – just ensure they have enough room to air properly.
4. Divide and conquer
Using internal drawer organisers such as a cutlery tray will help corral small items such as cosmetics, spare toothbrushes and soap to keep clutter under control.
5. Add a stool
Beautiful though they are, freestanding baths are notorious for being a storage desert. A simple solution is a stool set nearby – it’s handy for bathtime items and can also be moved easily if required.
6. Fit a shelf
A recess is another display option, and also provides an opportunity for a decorative highlight, as in this sparkling mosaic-lined space.
