Making your own energy balls is a great way to avoid reaching for the cookie jar come 3pm. Packed with fruit and nuts, these will satisfy sugar cravings and provide a burst of energy.

Ingredients

Method

1.

Combine dates and protein powder in a bowl. Put macadamias, pistachios and half the cranberries in a food processor. Process until finely chopped. Add to bowl with date mixture and stir until combined.

2.

Put cacao cashew coconut butter and agave nectar in a saucepan and stir over a low heat until melted. Add to dry ingredients and stir with your hand until mixture is combined and forms a stiff paste.

3.

Process extra pistachios until finely chopped. Finely chop remaining cranberries. Combine in a small bowl. Roll a tablespoon of energy ball mixture into a ball with a wet hand, then roll wet ball in pistachio mixture until well coated. Roll in your hands to press pistachio mixture on. Repeat with remaining balls.

4.

Refrigerate for 2 hours or until firm. Keep refrigerated up to 2 weeks.

Tip:

Find cacao cashew coconut butter at health food stores.

You can also use other flavoured cacao or coconut nut butters or almond butter.

You can use honey as a substitute for agave syrup.
