French-inspired style in the heart of Sydney
Sitting room
An elegant daybed from Shades Of Pale lifts the glamour factor in the sitting room. Custom-made cabinetry from Academic Wardrobes, finished in Dulux Vivid White, is a simple match for the vintage vibe of the room, while a geometric rug from Ikea adds a dash of energy. All eyes are naturally drawn to the statement mirror from Shades Of Pale that takes pride of place above the fireplace. The raw texture works wonders with the room’s sandy palette and ups the sense of space.

Hallway
The star piece in the attractive hallway is a console table constructed by combining two vintage Singer sewing machine bases and topping them with a slab of marble.

Kitchen
Modern lines and finishes are found in the highly functional Hamptons-style kitchen. A Carrara quartz benchtop was chosen as a robust alternative to marble, with subway tiles from Exclusive Tiles as a splashback. For similar industrial pendants, try Early Settler.

Dining zone
In the dining zone, a sturdy country-style wooden table that could have walked straight out of a home in Provence (but actually came from Collections By Kate) is paired with equally substantial chairs from Shades Of Pale.

Living zone
A chandelier from The Country Trader is the perfect style-defining piece for this chic living room. A hessian coffee table from Shades Of Pale is a great match for the ‘Scroll Tile’ wool rug from Pottery Barn.

Bedroom
The main bedroom has a regal palette of plums and greys. Beneath a delicate chandelier imported from France is a super-sized La Maison bed, dressed in a grape ‘Shirland’ throw from Laura Ashley.

Bathroom
A chic marble mosaic feature wall with tiles from Teranova adds instant glamour to the bathroom. The tiny round tiles contrast beautifully with the large-format Carrara marble floor tiles from Domayne and the sizeable square-edged bath. The cabinet was found on Ebay for just $50 – it was stripped back and repainted before being given new sinks and a marble benchtop.
