In her latest House 2 Home Beautiful diary entry, the interior stylist reveals how a passion for international architecture has informed her affinity with clean lines. The flat roofed, modernist 70s buildings of Palm Springs and Los Angeles are particular muses. Think palm trees, swimming pools, post-war furniture and Sinatra on Spotify.
Pure and simple, Japanese architecture is another key style influence. “They do amazing, really minimal, contemporary tree houses, which have really inspired us,” Aimee says. Although she won't be moving to the treetops with two small kids anytime soon, the breezy open-plan areas that characterise Japanese tree houses will work their way into the new house.
With modern style anchoring Aimee and Frank’s new home, we’re excited to see where the couple takes the project next. Playing devil's advocate, we’re interested to see if minimal and super clean styles will hold up with kids. Aimee has gladly accepted this challenge, “We’re really excited to make something really modern into a beautiful family home.”
