Hot tip: IKEA designer’s favourite item under $20

What would you choose if you spent every day at IKEA?

With over 9500 products inside the big, blue box that is an IKEA store, what does the Head of Interior Design want to take home?

Tiffany Buckins has a dream job.

If you’ve ever dreamt of being locked overnight in an IKEA store – being left to play and design and style and mix and match and… the list goes on!

She, like her co-workers knows the range better than anybody and understands all of the solutions on offer.

We asked her what her favourite product is at the moment in store for under $20.

“So much under $20!” says Tiffany. “But I actually so love the BITTERGURKA hanging planter – it’s fantastic.”

As well as for plants, Tiffany suggests we fill it with condiments to serve at the dining table. True to form, she is thinking outside the IKEA box and challenging us to think a little bit differently about how we use products in the range.

“The best thing about that is you can add on to it or take away,” says Tiffany. “It’s sold as individual pieces, but what it’s designed for is to be able to unhook it and take it to the table.”

“If you’re having a family gathering outside and you need the salt & pepper, oils & vinegars and all a little splash of herbs, you unhook and bring it out – you don’t have to carry everything.”

“It comes in a few new colours – pink, grey and white – all with the beautiful birch accent. You could colour co-ordinate or mix and match.

The BITTERGURKA hanging planter is available in the Home Decor department at IKEA. We’ll take two!
