Coral is back

The Pantone Colour of the Year is an influencer in its own right. The Colour of the Year has historically informed most of the colour trends in interiors and fashion over the following 12 months after the announcement.

In 2019, Living Coral 16-1546 is the Colour of the Year and it’s a surprisingly versatile hue. Perfect for homes that have a bohemian or neutral base colour palette. Living Coral is a bright and zesty colour that feels light, fresh and upbeat. Perfect for breathing new life into a tired room.

However, not everyone has the cash to splash on updating their entire home on a yearly basis, so here are some affordable ways you can update your home with Living Coral in 2019.

1. Paint a wall

Painting is one of the most affordable ways to totally change the look and feel of a room. Living Coral is bang on trend right now and plays well with other on-trend colours such as pastels, mustards and greens.

2. Throw blankets

While the weather is hot right now, the cooler months will sneak up on us quicker than we anticipate. Pick up some affordable throw blankets to toss over a sofa, chair or bed.

3. Cushions

We love a good decorative cushion and there’s no cheaper way to give your sofa or favourite armchair a new look than to pick up a cushion from your local Kmart, Target, Spotlight or Ikea.

4. Bedding

If you don’t want to commit to having Living Coral in the most obvious places in your home, how about trying it on your bed sheets? Pair it with a white duvet set for a fresh, summery look.

5. Stair risers

Get crafty and paint the risers on your stairs for a cheery yet bohemian take on an interior style statement.

6. Coral roses

You can either pick yourself up a fresh bunch of coral roses from the flower market and pop them on your dining table, or you can pant them in your garden for a never-ending source of coral colour.

7. Art print

Another quick, easy and affordable way to integrate any colour or trend into your home is by using art prints. Pop one above your bed, in the living area or kitchen and pair with a similarly coloured cushion, tea towel or throw that makes the space feel brand new.

8. Furniture

If you absolutely love this colour and are totally ready to commit to the trend, how about buying yourself a gorgeous piece of statement furniture upholstered in the bold hue?

9. Curtains

If you have an easy-to-use curtain rail at home then changing up your window dressing can be a quick and affordable way to add a statement colour to your home. Keep the curtains long and hang them high to maximise visual drama.

10. Rugs

Head to your local furniture and homewares store and buy yourself a colour block rug that has shades of coral in it. Team it up with cushions and an art print in the same room and you’ve basically over-hauled the entire scheme.
