How to give your bedroom a makeover for free

You don't have to spend money to give your bedroom a makeover for free

Giving your bedroom a brand new look doesn’t mean you have to blow your budget.

In fact, you don’t need to spend any money at all. Use these clever tips and tricks to make the things you already own work harder for you in your room.

1. Move pendant lamps

If you have a pair of pendant lamps in your room, why not create a new focal point by hanging them over your bedside tables?

2. Pile on the cushions

If in doubt, pile on the cushions. Mix and match what you already have for a relaxed look.

3. Lay down a rug

You can give your bedroom a cosy makeover by using a rug from another room. If it’s too small to fit under your bed, place it along the bottom of the bed.

5. Make your mirror work harder

Instead of hanging your mirror on the wall, prop it against the wall for a casual look. This creates the illusion of space in your room by making the ceiling appear higher.

5. Create a statement wall

If you have an interesting collection at home, use it to create a statement wall above your bed. Group items together in odd numbers for a cohesive look.

6. Add greenery

Rather than fill your room with expensive cut flowers, pick a few leaves from your garden and display them in a glass jar on your bedside table. This works particularly well when combined with a botanical print in your drapes or bed linen.

7. Hang textiles on the wall

Interesting textiles like textured tablecloths or embroidered bedspreads can be used as artwork for your walls.

8. Make a display of artworks

Layer a group of several artworks in various sizes and empty frames to create an interesting display.
