There’s something incredibly satisfying about giving an old piece of furniture a new lease on life. Next time you embark on an upcycling project, try getting creative, as Chloe Kempster from @maisieshouse did with this cabinet, turning it from drab to fab using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.

What you’ll need:

  • Annie Sloan Scandinavian Pink Chalk Paint
  • Annie Sloan Old White Chalk Paint
  • Annie Sloan wax in Clear and Black

Method:

1 Sand the cabinet to reveal some areas of raw wood, then paint a base of Scandinavian Pink leaving small areas of wood showing for a rustic look.
2 To create your design, use a sketchbook to experiment with different patterns. Try making one line drawings in biro based on flowers and stems until you find  a composition you like.
3 Hand-paint your chosen design onto to the cabinet using the finer detail brushes with Old White.
4 Finish off by waxing your cabinet with clear wax, then add some black wax to seal and add depth.
