This is the $89 Kmart coffee machine that industry experts love

It rated higher than a $949 machine!

Has Kmart done it again?

The retail giant has released an $89 espresso machine that is so good, it’s knocked its higher end competitors off their perch.

According to Australian consumer advocacy group, Choice, the espresso machine performed better than its $949 competitor in both taste and consistency.

In an independent review, Choice examined 34 different espresso machines, considering style, ease of use, taste and price, and concluded that the Kmart machine was a serious contender.

“The overall score we gave the Kmart Anko Espresso Coffee Machine is not far off (and in some cases higher than) the scores we’ve given to machines that are significantly more expensive,” Pru Engel wrote.

“Alongside pluses for good looks, taste and consistency of temperature, this machine does have its shortcomings and is not going to be the most solid alliance in your kitchen,” she added.

“But at that bargain price, it’s tough to overlook as a contender.”

Industry experts agreed.

“In a blind test by our coffee taste testers (who are all professional baristas and industry experts), the Kmart machine received a score of 70 per cent on the taste test.

By comparison, the $949 DeLonghi La Specialista, which costs $949 only scored 65 per cent.

The coffee machine has also made waves on social media.

“I’m very happy with my Kmart espresso coffee maker,” said one member of the Kmart Home Décor & Hacks Australia group on Facebook. “Does the same job as one 3 times the price.”

But not everyone felt the same.

“Had to return mine after 4 days of use I couldn’t get the plastic smell/taste out no matter what I used to clean it,” complained one member of the group.

“Taking ours back tomorrow…the plastic smell and taste doesn’t go away,” agreed another.

If you’re willing to risk it and put your faith in industry experts, you should probably act fast. It’s not going to be easy getting your hands on one now that the word is out.
