Modern thinking: From bungalow to sophisticated home
Living room
Homeowners chose a modern mix of furniture for their Sydney home, with classic black tub leather ‘Oscar’ armchairs, a cosy grey sofa and ‘Antwerp’ coffee table, all from Orson & Blake. Ochre orange cushions bring the scheme to life. “It’s nice to have a few pieces that are different and stand out,” they say.

Kitchen
From the architectural skylight to the sliding dark timber veneer doors and Carrara marble island benchtop, the custom-designed kitchen is rich in beautiful details. Behind one timber veneer sliding door is a scullery for washing up that leads into the laundry. Handle-free glossy white cupboards, a bookshelf for cookbooks and transparent ‘Charles Ghost’ stools from Space also feature.

Living area
A custom-built fireplace is a clever room divider between the kitchen and living area. Framed in Carrara marble, the wood-burning Jetmaster fireplace keeps the family snug in winter. A Castle artwork, Red Rainbow, paired with a Studio Sam book sculpture, lends vivid ribbons of colour to the space.

The kid's room
A feature wall in Dulux Shale Grey adds depth to this room. Oeuf furniture matched with Dwell Studio linen gives the room a grown-up designer sensibility.

Colour makes a very pretty appearance in here with a patchwork quilt and pink-toned pieces.
