SANDWICHED BETWEEN rambling ocean beaches and the breathtaking views and properties along the Swan River, Mosman Park is a precious and often by-passed suburb sitting quietly next to its busy hipster sister, Cottesloe. An already established boutique shopping area lines Glyde Street, but the last few years have seen new faces in its line up, and recent additions to the lesser-known Wellington Street – a welcome refresh for locals, foodies and decorating devotees alike.
STOP 1: Hunters + Collectors Interiors
This showroom is at the pinnacle of classic, modern furniture design. Hunters + Collectors Interiors offers beautifully restored mid-century furniture and decorative arts, which are sourced from the USA, Europe and locally. Their enticing window displays encourage you to hop up the stairs around the back to discover a veritable tardis stuffed with retro, Danish masterpieces.
Expect to find sideboards, desks and accent chairs, sure to make a statement.

SHOP 2 | Bird Lifestyle
Only recently opened, this homewares and accessories shop sells boutique and treasured pieces from around Australia and further afield. Proprietor Rebecca Johnson hunts down, or commissions, unusual and quirky pieces to offer her loyal followers and style-seeking visitors. Expect Zakkia orbs, Nomess Copenhagen perspex boxes, Rachel Castle cushions and the only place outside of Chateau Marmont that you can buy the Alessandra candle, with its unique scent of spices, gardenia and vanilla.

STOP 3 | Calico And Ivy
Established more than 35 years ago, Calico And Ivy has gathered a slew of devoted followers who can browse an extensive range of beautiful fabrics, yarns and patterns for contemporary and traditional crafters alike. This colourful haven brims with Liberty Tana Lawn and other quality cotton and linen fabrics, and holds a large selection of yarns, such as Debbie Bliss, Madelinetosh, Quince & Co and Brooklyn Tweed. It’s also a treasure trove of patterns, haberdashery, books, giftware – Panier Des Sens En Provence products and Greengate homewares are some of our picks – and a range of 100 per cent linen clothing.

STOP 4 | Studio 124
Collective Seeing the need for a studio with a communal space for her students and clients, artist Cher Van Schouwen has brought together other professional creatives with the same goal and devised a welcoming collective. Within a sequence of rooms and studios tucked under one roof, you will find an energised group of designers, artists and makers centred around a lush, green, European-style courtyard used for tailored events and consults. Front of house is HC Interiors, the mother-daughter duo renowned for their elegant and timeless style; walk through for a consult with Claremont Art Framers; or see Cher in her open studio, painting or giving advice in her art lessons. The rear studio displays the work of Caroline Christie-Coxon’s abstract work, and upstairs are web designers ADS.

STOP 5 | Good Things Cafe
For seriously good food, head towards the end of Wellington Street and you will stumble upon this gem of an eatery. With a spacious bright interior, large communal central table and local artists’ graphics on the wall, it has a fun yet honest atmosphere. The quiet streetscape makes it the perfect place to enjoy an excellent coffee and a great menu full of tasty favourites with a twist.
Must-have: Dukkah-roasted pumpkin with roti and fried eggs, or southern-fried chicken with maple bacon and chilli-butterscotch on a Belgian waffle.

WHILE YOU’RE THERE… If sweets are your thing, then head to Bittersweet Bake – next door to Good Things Cafe on Wellington Street – who are renowned for their unique flavours and beautifully crafted cakes adorned with fresh flowers. A delight for parents and gifters who love wooden toys and functional presents for children, Fun Form And Function on Glyde Street offers some lovely well-made children’s toys. For something a bit more active, take the clifftop walk along the river’s edge side of Mosman Park – it will take you past some of the most stunning views of Perth and the Swan River, pretty river beaches and some of Perth’s most prestigious properties. Finish off the day at Samson’s Paddock Boutique, a vintage pub with rustic-chic decor offering an international menu, craft beer and whisky with a beautiful outside courtyard.
