Get the Hamptons look in your kitchen

For a contemporary take on Hamptons style in your kitchen, here's our Room Recipe
Chris Warnes

This pokey kitchen was transformed into a modern Hamptons style space with the help of some key elements. We show you how.

“A strict budget is really important, you need to be realistic about what you can afford to spend,” Erin, renovator

Ingredients

Open plan layout

Generous island bench, composite stone in Carrara Gioia, Talostone

Panelled cabinetry, Collective Joinery

Plenty of white paint, ‘Scriptwriter’, Taubmans

Touches of timber, ‘Tractor’ bar stools, Oz Design Furniture

Glances of glass, Mercator ‘Romy’ pendants, Bunnings

Matt black tapware, Meir Australia

 Method

1. Begin with an all white palette and apply to main finishes – walls, cabinetry, benchtops and splashback

2. Make a statement with the finish to benchtops and/or island bench – here the composite stone is a step away from the cost of marble, but brings the same luxe look and feel

3. Choose detailed panels in cabinetry doors and choose a painted white finish to help the space appear larger and achieve that authentic Hamptons feel

4. Introduce timber textures in stools and accessories. Where possible link to complimentary timbers in adjoining rooms, such as the above dining setting from Hamptons At Home

5. Keep flooring white, light and simple. Formica laminate in Whitewash Oak unifies this space
