She enlisted Jackie Brown, a stylist for Zanui, to help give her lounge and bedroom the minimalist, neutral look she envisaged.
“My life is colourful in itself and I’m always decked out in costumes on stage, so I like to come home to a space that is just calming and neutral,” Samantha told Home Beautiful.
“I love the Scandi style of neutrals and minimalism, so that was my brief to her. I also didn’t want something that was too trend heavy that would date quickly.
"I just loved all of the Zanui touches, it’s given the home a whole new dimension that it didn’t have before.”
"I didn’t want art to detract too much from the simplicity of the space, so Jackie’s choice of print – a black and white photo of surfers at the beach is really timeless with a quiet quality," Samantha says.
"If you’re not too keen on colour one way to brighten up a Scandi space naturally is to add a plant. Jackie added a real plant which I’m happy to report is still alive and adds a wonderful touch of nature!"
Scandi style is all about minimalism, so Sam was happy to have just a few accessories in her home.
"I love that Jackie added just a few bits and pieces including these dark brass pots. The clean lines and mainly square shapes add a sense of structure and calm," she says.
Light colours are best if you are trying to replicated the Scandi look at home.
"Bright and white is the way to go," Sam says. "You can always add pops of colour on top of that such as the pink accents we’ve chosen for the bedroom."
Consider adding a cosy element or nook in your home to warm up the minimalist Scandi style.
"In the bedroom Jackie added a reading nook complete with cushions near the bed and it totally makes the space," Samantha says.
