With the announcement that Meghan Markle has delivered her first child, we can’t help but speculate on how the Frogmore Cottage nursery has been decorated.

We’ve found six beautiful rooms that would be sure to suit a royal baby.

Whimsical wallpaper

It’s the beautiful wallpaper in this baby girl’s room that takes it beyond the ordinary. Pale pink accessories and homewares tie the look together.

Muted palette

A taupe carpet grounds a soft palette of greys, pinks and blues in this nursery. Accessories in pink give it a feminine touch, and a swan rug completes the look.

High-styling history

This nursery has been decorated to hero the original architecture of the home with timber-lined walls painted in a cool, calm grey tone and vintage furniture pieces pressed into functional use, punctuated with a chevron rug underfoot. A heritage-style cot is brought up to date with a funky throw rug and cushion and a vintage map of the British Isles is a nod to the Motherland.

Smart stripes

Grey and white stripes in the wallpaper and rug set the scene in this light and bright nursery. The neutral tones are perfect for a gender neutral space, while the yellow stool, coat stand and rows of books deliver vibrant pops of colour.

Back to nature

Natural elements – the Stokke cot, timber flooring, hanging plant and woven rug – abound in this gender-neutral nursery, while white walls and blinds lighten and brighten. Sweet and sentimental artworks – including an illustration print by Catherine Campbell and a Jai Vasicek ‘Geo Deer’ tile from Ahoy Trader – grace the walls, while floating display bookshelves and a tepee Johanna draped in an old lace curtain bring interest and whimsy. The pendant is from Ikea, and the striped ‘Orange Big Top’ cushion by Rachel Castle is available at Koskela.

Fairytale dreaming

Whimsical and old-worldy, this room gives a gentle nod to the past. The Ikea ‘Minnen’ bed (which has been recently tweaked) was chosen for its vintage feel, while the fairytale canopy, bunting and butterfly cushion from Numero 74 for their dreaminess. But it’s that stunning floral ‘Blossom’ paper from Mr Perswall that is the much-loved centerpiece of this gorgeous space.
