The newest bar in Sydney will make you want to redecorate your whole house

And start serving cocktails at dinner!

Opening its doors in Sydney this week is the Observatory Bar at The Langham – a sophisticated space where you will discover an inventive cocktail and inspiring food menu, but we can’t take our eyes off the décor.

Located in the heart of Millers Point, this intimate bar provides an elegant escape from the bustling city. Known worldwide for their attention to detail in their food and beverage, the space has been, “Designed for guests seeking an elevated cocktail or fine wine experience.”

The room is entered off the main lobby in The Langham and forms an inviting picture with plush upholstered couches showing gently curving dark timber legs and drawn into conversation clutches with classically elegant tub chairs in golden brushed velvet. Slim-line, straight-backed teal velvet seats and tidy little mushroom ottomans surround and surfaces finished with the quiet luxury of marble and brass.

Not the marble and brass we’re seeing everywhere but executed with handmade detailing in timeless shapes on generous round split-level tables – crafted with care and a contemporary edge that is just a little more than fabulous. Back-lit shelving and bar trolleys pepper the space – all conspiring to make it feel like home and that’s all the invitation we need to take mental notes on what decorating ideas we’ll appropriate for our own spaces.
