The 8 dirty places in your bathroom you’re missing

They're easy to overlook
Home Beautiful

We all think we’re doing a good job cleaning the bathroom, but there are a few spots that are easy to overlook.

Here are 8 unexpected places you might be forgetting to clean.

1. Light switch

Even if it looks clean, germs are probably lurking on the light switch. Add it to your list of things to wipe down.

2. Exhaust fan

Dust builds up on the fan over time, so it needs to be cleaned at least twice a year. Turn it off at the switch or circuit breaker and remove the cover. Clean the cover with the brush attachment on your vaccum. Then clean inside the fan and around the motor. Slip the fan cover back on.

3. Toothbrush holder

If you use a toothbrush holder, grime and mould can accumulate at the bottom. Rinse it thoroughly with vinegar and leave it to air dry.

4. Toilet paper holder

The toilet is one of the most obvious things to clean in the bathroom, but it’s easy to forget the toilet paper holder. .

5. Toilet flush handles or buttons

Another high traffic zone. After you’ve cleaned the toilet paper holder, move onto the flush handle or buttons.

6. Toilet brush

If your toilet brush is looking grimy, toss it or soak it in vinegar overnight.

7. Toilet water tank

Use vinegar to clean the water tank as well. Pour one cup of white vinegar into the tank and leave for a few minutes. Flush the toilet a few times because the vinegar can erode the metal fixtures in the tank.

8. Outside of toilet bowl

Germs like to lurk outside of the toilet bowl as well as inside, so wipe it down with vinegar.
