If social media is the photo album of the millennial years, we decided take a look through the lives of the well travelled to see where we need to head next.

The world moves faster and faster, with technology taking us on a virtual world tour any time we like. Once upon a time, by the time a postcard arrived home in the mail, travellers would have skipped through a couple more continents. Now we see a day-by-day, moment-by-moment account of our friends and families as they trot the globe – and in real time!

Here are the top 10 places most people Instagrammed from in 2017.

Spoiler alert: A lot of them feature Disneyland…!

1. Disneyland, Anaheim, USA

The happiest place on earth it seems, is a man-made suburb of greater Los Angeles. Built under the supervision of Walt Disney himself, the original theme park is a dream come true for more than just its maker.

2. Times Square, New York City, USA

Definitely a bucket list destination, Times Square offers the quintessential big city experience any time of day or night.

3. Central Park, New York City, USA

Central Park is a colossal green space, considering it’s in the middle of one of the biggest and busiest cities in the world. Hundreds of movies have been filmed here making it a must visit destination in New York City and, with building surrounding it on all sides, there are plenty of vantage points to look down from and watch the seasons unfold.

4. Tour Eiffel, Paris, France

Nothing could be more French than the Eiffel Tower. Built by Gustave Eiffel in 1889 for the Exposition Universelle in an incredible feat of engineering for its time, the iconic structure has fascinated people ever since, both from afar and in person. Climb it, dine in its restaurant, witness the incredible lighting displays at night or unsurpassed fireworks on New Years Eve – whatever your experience, it doesn’t disappoint.

Opened in 1983, this was the first Disney theme park opened outside of the United States and a visit serves as a right of passage for Japanese teenagers.

6. Disney’s Magic Kingdom, Orlando, USA

Walt Disney World was opened in Florida in 1971 and designed to supplement the original Disneyland, offering different attractions. It is the home of EPCOT and Cinderella’s Castle.

7. Musée du Louvre, Paris, France

What began life as a fortress later became a royal palace until the Palace of Versailles was built. It opened to the public as a museum in 1793 and continues to be one of the most important museums in the world, housing the Venus de Milo and the Mona Lisa.

8. Brooklyn Bridge, Brooklyn, USA

The first steel-wire suspension bridge in the world, the Brooklyn Bridge was formally opened in 1883. With a dedicated pedestrian walkway spanning just over 1.6km, it bridges the East River between Manhattan and Brooklyn.

9. Disney California Adventure Park, Anaheim, USA

Yet another Disney hotspot, this adventure park opened in 2001 and offers chills and thrills additional to the original theme park. It’s kind of like an expansion pack for Disney.

10. Las Vegas Strip, Las Vegas, USA

The setting for the original movie The Hangover, let’s just say that what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. Except when it’s posted on social media…
