Every year in late spring, the skies of suburbs all over the country are flooded with flowering jacaranda trees. We take a stroll through the best of them.
Kirribilli on the northern shores of Sydney harbour is renowned for it's jacaranda-lined streets and draws countless tourists year after year.
One story exists around a baby health centre nurse, who used to gift a jacaranda seedling to the new mothers when they visited her clinic with newborn babies. The families then went on to plant the tiny trees in their lawns and gardens, cultivating entire suburbs of the purple blooms as the trees grew and matured alongside the growing children.
Grafton has jacarandas in such an abundance they have built an entire town festival around it.
