Life is full of mile stones. Turning 18, moving out of home for the first time, getting married and the dreaded 30th birthday are just some of the highlights. Thirty years old is one of those birthdays that many people dread, but really shouldn’t. In fact, research suggests that humans don’t even reach full adult maturity until they reach 30. However, there are a few things you should probably own by the time you turn 30 that can improve your home, health and quality of life.

1. A real vacuum

A hard-working vacuum is worth its weight in gold. It’ll save you time, money and effort in the long run. Speak to your local electronics retailer about the most reputable brands and best-selling models before making a decision. Once you invest in a real vacuum, cleaning up dirt, dust, spills and pet fur will be easy-peasy!

2. Slick dinnerware

Nothing says #adulting quite like a lovely dinnerware set and real silverware to match. It doesn’t have to cost hundreds of dollars, just set yourself up with some lovely chip-resistant stoneware plates and bowls, and invest in cutlery that is sturdy to hold with and won’t bend out of shape after repeated use.  Now is also probably time to invest in wine glasses, too.

3. Multi-tasking wireless speakers

In the age of Netflix and Spotify, it isn’t really necessary to have the old-fashioned surround sound system hardwired into your TV. Instead, invest your money into a high-quality wireless speaker that can wirelessly connect to both your TV and digital devices, and act as sound for both TV and music! Two for the price of one!

4. Grown up appliances

Instead of buying a cheap new toaster and kettle set (that’s destined to break!) every 12 months, now is the time to set yourself up with a luxe kettle and toaster combo, some swish pots and pans that make cooking a breeze, and maybe even a fancy mixer or blender, depending on your cooking style. Nothing says ‘killing it!’ like functional kitchen appliances that look great both on the bench and in the cupboard.

5. A dreamy mattress

Humans spend around a third of their life in bed, so it’s worth investing the money into a good mattress that offers support in all the right places. Always buy a brand new mattress and test out many before making a decision. Work out whether you like a firm or soft mattress, whether you want a soft top or memory foam, etc. Once you’ve slept on the perfect mattress you’ll go to sleep quicker and wake up feeling fresher – with fewer aches!
