Eclectic use of colour breathes new life – and light – into this characterful home.
Main bedroom
Bright splashes of yellow, orange and red creates a cheerful mood in the parents retreat. The yellow round floor rug – a budget-savvy Spotlight purchase – sets the colour theme, which is reflected in the Golden Yellow iron bed ‘Scout’ from Scout House. The dresser was an antiques auction house purchase.
Hallway
The colour theme continues in the hallway, with a custom-painted cabinet reflecting the pops of yellow in the Del Kathryn Barton artwork. Try Dulux Duramax spray paint in Dandelion Yellow.
Playroom
Functionality meets funky style in the playroom. A black-and-white polypropylene rug from Ikea packs a graphic punch, while the practical storage – ‘Fjälkinge’ units, also from Ikea – ensures toys can be neatly packed away at the end of the
day.
Living room
The custom-made tan leather window seat in the separate living room is a favourite sunny spot. The bluestone hearth and floating timber display shelves make textural focal points, as well as providing a neutral background for the colourful books. The ‘Jasper’ waffle throw from Bed Bath N’ Table draped over the ottoman also provides a hit of eclectic colour.
Upstairs lounge
With the guest bedroom positioned next door, the room is designed for visitors to enjoy some downtime. The space has been prettied up with a colourful Spotlight rug and cushions in a cheery hue.
