Hollywood star actor Matt Damon has moved on from the Byron Bay residence he shared with his wife Luciana Barroso and it was listed for sale earlier this year. According to Domain the property recently sold for the tidy price of $3.8million, after the listing sparking interest, “from half of Hollywood”.
Nestled in nature, Blackwood House was formerly rented by Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus during their stay and the Broken Head property is right next door to the home currently being rented by Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky whilst they renovate their own home in the area.
Following Damon’s residence, selling agent Frank Mlikota received enquiries on behalf of a number of the Hollywood jet set, including Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen and Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban.
Byron Bay is increasingly becoming a favourite with Hollywood stars for the relaxed yet sophisticated coastal lifestyle and delectable food scene it affords. According to Domain, Damon and his wife signed a four-month lease back in February and though they had no plans to buy in the area, were seen enjoying the lifestyle around Byron Bay with close friend Hemsworth and his family.
We take a tour of the house and grounds.
The contemporary five-bedroom home sits in a dreamy elevated position around half way between Byron Bay and Lennox Head on Owenia Way and enjoys sweeping views across the valley to the Pacific Ocean.
With an infinity pool on the bottom level, a pool house and separate media room the home is stunning in its own right, with bespoke timber cabinetry, generous sliding doors which open almost the entire length of the house to flow the indoors outside.
Inside, polished concrete floors span an entertainer’s kitchen and a large, luxurious open plan living area.
Bedrooms are simple and elegant and the bathrooms finished with textured walls and stone details in the basin and flooring.
Blackwood House has four bathrooms, an infinity pool and six car spaces.
Since Damon’s appearance next to Chris Hemsworth in the movie, Thor Ragnarok was one of Hollywood’s most tightly guarded secrets, we feel it’s only fitting that the star gets a suitable farewell from our own Hollywood playground as he departs his co-star’s neighbourhood.
With the Sydney buyer closing the sale to achieve the listed price guide of $3.8 million, they can expect to rub shoulders with Byron Bay’s fast-growing celebrity set as they settle into their new coastal abode.
