Nestled in the woods of Finnish Lapland is the Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort – a little city of glass igloos, kitted out for travellers to rest and rejoice in this wondrous natural phenomenon. All you need to do it lie back and enjoy Aurora borealis as you drift off to sleep in snuggly comfort.

With the number of visitors flocking to the Arctic Circle continuing to rise, the tourism industry is booming and this family-run resort offers a range of accommodation options, from age-old traditional timber houses, through snug and stylish log cabins to igloos actually made of snow. If you’re planning your trip to visit during the Northern Lights season however (around 24th August – end of April), the glass igloos must surely be the pick of the bunch. Two-person igloos include a toilet and can take an extra bed, whilst four-person igloos have a toilet and shower inside.
