Interiors stylist Darren Palmer has partnered with Myer to launch an exclusive homewares collection.

We caught up with Darren to chat about his exciting new range.

We love the idea of everyday luxury in our homes. Can you give us a few tips on how to incorporate pieces from your range with furnishings and finishes our readers will already have in their home?

That is truly the best part of my new collection, all the pieces are made to work beautifully with everything else in the range, so you can easily introduce my designs into your existing home décor.

I’ve designed pieces in the collection in classic materials and colours such as brass, white and navy which all work well together, whether your home features more neutral shades or bold interiors. The individual items all stand alone as focal pieces or great additions to vignettes amongst your own treasured pieces. The trays, for example, sit perfectly on a coffee table, side table or console to give you the perfect spot to gather your favourite pieces together.

I knew when I launched my own collection that it was really important that it featured my own signature luxurious style and have it translate easily for anyone to try at home. It was ideal to partner with Myer with their incredible store network offering my collection in 47 stores around the country as well as online as myer.com.au, so the collection is so accessible wherever you live.

We love the elegance of the range, which manages to combine a little masculinity into the designs and colour ways. Tell us how you made this work so well.

I like to think that my style doesn’t alienate men or women but brings both into the fold and gives people of all genders, styles and ages something that they can not only relate to but fall in love with. Any great interior is a blend of masculine and feminine forms and energy and my range represents that well.

Many of the items in the range have that “handmade” look and feel. Was this important to you?

Very. Of course the quantities of scale required to deliver product across the country in a major marque store such as Myer means we need to be able to produce large amounts of any item. The beaten brass bowls are all hand-hammered so each piece looks consistent but they are all individual. I wanted to represent my love of nature in the materials and textures of the soft furnishings and decor items and I’m really proud of how well it all has come together as a coherent range that feels and looks just the way I intended it.
