Wine cooler
An integrated Häfele wine cooler is one of the true stars of this room and is positioned on the face of the island in easy reach of guests – ideal for a much-used entertaining zone.
Splashback
A grey-smoked mirror splashback reflects just the right amount of greenery without feeling harsh and too reflective. At night, the subtle reflection adds to the warm glow of ambient lighting.
Island bench
The floating L-shaped benchtop allows easy social interaction and designates a space for guests to sit around the island without cluttering the cook’s workspace. The benchtop isn’t actually timber, but an authentic-looking and much more cost-effective wood laminate finish in Noce Vintage. The rest of the slim benchtop is Silestone in Yukon Blanco, which has a lightweight look that is a neat counterweight to the heavier look of the wood.
Fittings
The wall cabinets are kitted out with motorised Blum hinges, allowing them to open right up at the push of a button and keeping the fascia handle-free. The timber finish is reflected in a set of ‘Tractor’ stools from Freedom. A row of glass pendants (for similar, try ‘Acquatinta One’ replica lights from Matt Blatt) keeps the spotlight on the island unit.
