Pantone’s Colour of the Year for 2019 has been announced today and we want you to try it in your home.

Officially named PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral, the colour is a burst of warmth at a time we need it most. With interiors embracing bold colour all over the world, we’re delighted to seize this exhilaratingly hue with open arms.

Whilst Pantone’s Colour of the Year for 2018, Ultra Violet was met with mixed feelings, the excitement this year in the Home Beautiful office is palpable – “Living Coral” is straight off the pages of our November issue, with stylist Rachel Peter’s stunning inspirational decorating shoot titled “The New Nautical”.

It’s a step away from Millennial Pink and decidedly towards flamingo and HB acting creative director Julia Hoolahan is thrilled with the announcement. “I love that it’s such an uplifting colour,” she enthuses, suggesting a pop of Living Coral for a fresh boost of colour to brighten your interiors.

“The softness of it makes it easy to incorporate in the home with both neutrals and deeper tones”

Describing the colour on Instagram, Pantone calls Living Coral, “an animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge.”

We love the brightness it brings and how it takes an entire space to the next level visually – the smallest hint of coral paired with nautical stripes it can breathe a wonderful freshness into an indoor or outdoor room for summer.

“Social and spirited, the engaging nature of Living Coral welcomes and encourages lighthearted activity.”

For an unexpected pop of colour against neutrals – rustic stone surfaces, natural linen upholstery or sharp metallics are equally at home alongside this perky peach of a colour.

Or go bold and use it as a backdrop to jewel-toned velvets, tribal textiles and hand-beaten metals. The world is your oyster with this versatile tone!

The perfect candidate for how to adopt a new trend using accessories – cushions, table linens or an organically shaped vase would all work beautifully to introduce its lively hue.

We predict Living Coral will soon feature in homes everywhere – and we’re all for it!
