One of our favourite Australian homewares designers has joined forces with none other than the Sydney Opera House to create what is sure to become an iconic collection itself to be used in every room of the home.
Our homes are a place for nurturing our souls and reconnecting to what is important in life. Our bedrooms perhaps the most important space in which to collect ourselves, recharge our emotions and feed our souls. “We are living in operatic times,” said Anne Midgette in the Washington Post, venturing the theory that opera can help us survive the next four years on social media. If this is so, perhaps there’s even more operatic overtures can do in our lives…

The Sydney Opera House x Sheridan collaboration draws on a long and fruitful history between the two, with Sheridan founder Claudio Alcorso being the founding Chairperson of Opera Australia in 1971.
During the process of design and development Sheridan’s design team embarked upon an immersive experience at the Sydney Opera House, gaining insights into the construction of the venue, the details and materials included within each of the incredible spaces.
Inspired by both the art and architecture of the building, together with the natural surrounds of Bennelong Point, the team hand-painted and sketched the designs that now appear in the collection, which consists of eight pieces – three bed designs, three artworks and two cushions.
“It has been a rare privilege to collaborate on a range which celebrates one of Australia’s greatest cultural and design icons,” said Sheridan General Manager of Design Joanna Ross. “This truly original collection has been designed to reflect the continuing energy, evolution and vibrancy of this famous landmark.”
“Sheridan’s artistry, quality craftsmanship and shared history of championing the arts made our collaboration a natural fit, resulting in a beautifully crafted and truly inspired collection,” said Sydney Opera House Head of Strategic Development Miriam O’Rourke. “By creating unique, bespoke pieces that celebrate the style, beauty and innovation of the building itself, our visitors can take a piece of the Opera House home with them.”
It follows then that, rather than waiting for the fat lady to sing, perhaps we can simply be lulled to sleep by the rustle of beautiful quality bedlinen?
