Gwyneth Paltrow may have opened the doors to her Montecito, CA home in the past (the video of her home tour has amassed over 5 million views since it was first uploaded to YouTube) but this time, she’s partnering with Airbnb to give one lucky guest the opportunity to actually stay the night. And, if you’re the lucky winner, she’ll even join you for dinner.

“While we may begin as strangers, I hope we’ll find connections and commonalities over a delicious meal,” Gwyneth wrote in an Instagram post. The actress and Goop founder was inspired to put her “beautiful little guesthouse” on the popular home-share website as part of Airbnb’s quest to help combat loneliness.

While spending the night at a celeb’s house – in a neighbourhood that also happens to be home to Ariana Grande, Oprah Winfrey and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle – may be a dream come true, the likelihood of actually winning this competition is pretty slim. So why not recreate the luxurious vibe of Gwyneth Paltrow’s guesthouse at home?

The style of the guesthouse is deceptively simple with layers of warm, neutral tones, curved boucle furniture and eye-catching brass hardware. But look closer and you’ll see Gwyneth’s refined tastes shining through. The dining chairs alone (a post-modern design by Danish architect Magnus Læssøe Stephensen), for example, would cost over $11,000 to buy from 1st Dibs

Here we’ve rounded up a list of both affordable and aspirational items to recreate the look of Gwyneth’s guesthouse at home. And don’t forget to pamper yourself with luxurious skincare and a Goop-inspired menu including quinoa warm brunch salad and coriander lime-roasted salmon.

Solange performance boucle sofa, Castlery

The boucle trend is still going strong. Create an elegant and tonal living room with this curved sofa which also features unique timber detailing. Made from engineered wood and spill-resistant polyester boucle, it’s a sofa that will look good and stay comfy for many years to come. Also available in an armchair.

Boucle white ball cushion, Adairs

Nothing makes boucle look and feel more luxurious than layering it with even more boucle! Pair the Solange sofa from Castlery with a trio of these ball cushions to recreate Gwyneth’s guesthouse living space.

Jonathan Adler ‘Sorrento’ backgammon set, David Jones

The entire living room is drenched in shades of creamy white, but if you look closely there’s a touch of colour on the coffee table – a decorative blue box. Jonathan Adler’s ‘Sorrento’ backgammon set will create a similar look and and give you an analog activity to enjoy of an evening.

‘Tenerife’ reclaimed timber wall art in natural, LivingStyles

The living room is full of refined surfaces, but a reclaimed timber coffee table adds a roughed up, warm element. Finding an exact dupe of the coffee table is tricky, but you can create the same textural interest by investing in a piece of wall art made of reclaimed wood. This reclaimed timber piece is an excellent choice.

Sheepskin WNG Chairs by Mazo Design, 1st Dibs

Danish architect Magnus Læssøe Stephensen (1903-1984) designed the WNG Chairs that encircle Gwyneth Paltrow’s guesthouse dining table. The backrest, called ‘ears’ provides a comfortable spot to sit back and a place to rest your arms.

Meir paddle round pull out kitchen sink mixer tap in tiger bronze, The Blue Space

Gwyneth’s guesthouse kitchen mixes metals, but the focal piece of hardware in the space is the sleek brass mixer tap. This style from The Blue Space is very similar and even features a pull-out nozzle that retracts against a magnetic locking system to avoid the handle from sagging.

Natural black marble tray, Amazon

The guesthouse bathroom features a glamorous mix of black and white marble along with touches of patinaed brass tapware. Create the look on a smaller scale in your own bathroom with this luxe black marble tray that comes in at under $200.

Ginnie boucle bed frame with curved headboard in cream, Luxo Living

If you want to recreate Gwyneth’s minimal guest bedroom on a budget, it’s definitely possible. This queen boucle frame from Luxo Living is currently on sale for $429 (RRP $1100) and is almost an exact dupe. It also has plenty of gorgeous details including the plush upholstered headboard (perfect for reading in bed) and round timber legs.

St Albans ‘Meg’ mohair throw, Temple & Webster

We’re not exactly sure of the exact throw rug that drapes over the end of the bed is from (our best guess is Hermes), but for a similar punch of colour, we love the St Albans ‘Meg’ mohair throw which features a striking orange and amber colourway.

Carillo outdoor parasol, The Block Shop

Block out the sun’s harsh rays with a set of stylish outdoor umbrellas. This style features a crisp white canopy and a high grade teak pole and frame which will patina beautifully over time. Carillo parasol stand is sold separately.
