Meg Ryan’s famous romantic comedy characters have had some enviable homes—who could forget Kathleen Kelley’s shabby chic apartment in You’ve Got Mail and Annie Reed’s cosy red brick townhouse in Sleepless in Seattle—but Ryan’s own Montecito home happens to be more Nancy Meyers than Nora Ephron. Soon after purchasing her dreamy coastal property in 2021, Ryan gave the property a slick Hamptons style renovation. But now, with more renovation projects up her sleeve, according to The Robb Report, Ryan is ready to part ways with her Californian beach home, listing it for US$19.5 million (AU$30 million).

While Ryan might be the homes’ most famous occupant, its previous owners also include the late mystery novelist Sue Grafton and more recently, Alicia McFarlane, the granddaughter of John Wayne. Ryan’s interior touch however, is what’s all over the impressive Montecito property, with the actress having added over 3,000-square feet to the home during her remodel, including an oversized front porch.

Complete with romantic columns, checkerboard tile flooring, a fireplace and a swing seat, the incredible front porch is certainly one of the property’s stand out features and somewhere we could imagine spending a lot of time.

The porch also makes the most of the home’s views over the ocean and surrounding Santa Ynez Mountains. Along with the spectacular main residence, the property also comes with two acres of land, which include a guesthouse attached to the three car garage and a detached cabin.

Inside is just as impressive, with the arched walkways, wood floors and lime-washed walls bringing an elevated elegance to the Hampton-style interiors. And with six bedrooms and seven bathrooms, the property doesn’t lack space.

Now that Ryan is moving on from her Montecito renovation, what’s next for the star? According to The Robb Report, the actress splashed $13.5 million on a traditional shingled home in the Hamptons. If the result is anything like this home then we’re definitely going to be following along.
