Rose Byrne is one of our finest acting exports. But does she still live in Australia or has she relocated abroad to support her illustrious career?
Despite maintaining an apartment in her native Sydney, Byrne now primarily resides in the United States with her partner, actor Bobby Cannavale, and their two children. Ever the stylish pair, the stars’ townhouse is as chic as its actor owners, with a distinct pink facade and fully renovated interiors.
Where does Rose Byrne live?
Rose Byrne currently lives primarily in Brooklyn, New York, where she and Cannavale bought an eclectic pink townhouse in 2015. The rosy-hued property is located in Boerum Hill, and has been fully renovated by Byrne and Cannavale.
The couple bought the home from fellow actors Paul Sparks (Boardwalk Empire) and Annie Parisse (Law & Order).
Inside Rose Byrne and Bobby Cannavale’s Brooklyn home
Rose and Bobby’s family home is famous for its unique pink colour. The traditional Brooklyn brownstone is in a row of similar townhouses dating back to the 19th century, where each of the homes is painted a different, distinct hue.
The 2700 square foot home boasts three bedrooms, including a master with a built-in fireplace and its own private terrace. In addition to multiple main-house living spaces, which are divinely sunlit thanks to large south-facing windows, the ground floor is its own self-contained apartment, with an additional kitchen, dining and living spaces for possible private use.
As for other perks, the property is home to a full basement cellar, home office and spacious backyard.
Since purchasing the home in September 2015, they completely renovated it with the aide of architect Frederick Tang and team. While these images from the sale show the home in its prior, classic state, Rose and Bobby went for a light, colourful makeover, with a pastel pink and green colour palette.
“It’s rare when a client has such a specific colour preference,” interior designer Barbara Reyes told Vogue Australia (where you can see the results of the renovation). “We loved the colour combination and used it generously, especially in unexpected areas like the leather wrapped island base or leather inset at the desk, the bold foliage wallpaper, and the exterior.”
Does Rose Byrne live in Australia?
While Byrne doesn’t count Australia as her main home, she does reportedly have an apartment in the Sydney suburb of Balmain, where she grew up as a child.
Now, Byrne has adopted New York as her home, closer to where Cannavale was born and raise in New Jersey. The couple began dating in 2012, and have been together ever since, despite not getting legally married. They share two sons, Rocco, born in 2016, and Rafael, born in 2017. Cannavale also has a son from a previous marriage.
