There’s nothing like stunning artwork to infuse a home with personality, and it doesn’t have to cost the earth.
When decorating their renovated home in Melbourne’s inner south, Suzanne and Rob included some striking pieces of art.
“We were excited to discover the house once belonged to a milliner during the Second World War, whose hat factory was right next door,” says Suzanne. “We found a massive metal sign from the factory – ‘Georgina Hats’ – and we love that it has that history.”
Having “stumbled upon” collecting contemporary Australian art many years back, it’s now a must have for decorating each room and the scene-stealing oversized canvas in the dining room – an early work by notable Melbourne artist Rowena Martinich – is now one of their most prized pieces.
“We hunted Rowena down at an art show,” says Suzanne. “It was the first piece of art we bought.”
