The Mamma Mia! star’s surprisingly cosy Hollywood home comes with floral wallpaper, a wraparound porch and a dreamy backyard pool. Amanda Seyfried’s Los Angeles home has officially hit the market. Now, we have a rare look inside the actor’s charming Hollywood Hills hideaway. Listed for $US3.195 million–approximately $4.8 million–the traditional two-storey property feels more like an idyllic country house than a celebrity home just moments from the heart of Los Angeles.
Built in 1916 and tucked behind gates and towering hedges near Runyon Canyon, the three-bedroom, three-bathroom residence offers an unexpected sense of privacy. Its white weatherboard exterior, cheerful red front door and leafy gardens set the tone for the interiors, which favour vintage character and relaxed family living over copious Hollywood glamour.
Seyfried bought the approximately 254-square-metre home from her Jennifer’s Body co-star Adam Brody in 2011 for $US1.85 million. Before Brody–aka The O.C.’s Seth Cohen–called it home, the property reportedly belonged to Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst. It adds even more star power to its celebrity pedigree.

Inside Amanda Seyfried’s Los Angeles home, original-style details mingle with personal and playful decorating choices. Dark timber floors run throughout much of the lower levels, while multi-paned windows, decorative archways and an elegant fireplace preserve the home’s early 20th-century charm. The formal living room feels restrained yet welcoming. It has a generous grey sofa and matching armchairs arranged around a traditional fireplace. A vintage rattan coffee table adds texture to the otherwise neutral palette, while an antique-style mirror and wall sconces bring a touch of old-world elegance.
The room feels warm, unfussy and genuinely lived-in–unlike some celebrity homes, which can appear staged within an inch of their lives.
Country charm fills the home
That relaxed sensibility continues in the dining room, where mismatched black chairs surround a long timber table. Built-in cabinetry and arched windows lend the room architectural interest. An unexpected taxidermy animal brings a little of Seyfried’s country life into the city.
The kitchen features powder-blue cabinetry, white benchtops, a deep farmhouse sink and stainless-steel appliances. Rather than disguising the room’s practical purpose, open shelving places everyday crockery within easy reach. The timber flooring prevents the blue-and-white scheme from feeling too crisp or clinical. The result is a fresh yet timeless kitchen–one that would feel perfectly at home in an Australian country house.
A floral breakfast nook steals the show
While much of Amanda Seyfried’s Los Angeles home embraces a muted palette, the breakfast nook is gloriously whimsical. Floral wallpaper covers the walls above a wraparound bank of windows, filling the space with the kind of nostalgic pattern usually found in a much-loved country cottage. A curved window seat provides a sunny place to curl up. A weathered round dining table, lilac sofa and mismatched chairs make the room feel collected rather than carefully coordinated. An antique-style pendant light finishes the look.
Seyfried has previously spoken about her love of historic homes and old materials.
“I just love history, and I love the smell of old wood,” she told Architectural Digest during a tour of her Manhattan apartment. “History has a smell to it.”
That fondness for spaces with a past is evident throughout the LA property, from its antique-inspired lighting to its wallpaper and well-worn timber furniture.
The bedrooms are soft and serene
Upstairs, Amanda Seyfried’s Los Angeles home contains three bedrooms, including a large main suite. Decorated in warm, calming neutrals, the room features a dramatic black four-poster bed, a plush armchair and layers of soft linen.
A sunroom or sitting area provides a peaceful retreat looking over the garden. A secondary bedroom introduces brighter colour through patterned quilts, a blush-toned rug and an oversized cloud-shaped cushion. The room doesn’t appear staged for adults; it feels sweet, comfortable, and clearly designed for a child.
The backyard is a private Hollywood oasis
The home’s biggest luxury is waiting outdoors. A wide, covered porch looks across the lush rear garden, creating a shady spot for dining and relaxing beside the pool. Lawn, mature trees and hedging frame a long swimming pool below. The yard also features a spa and shaded lounge area, all largely hidden from neighbouring properties by greenery.
A detached garage has been transformed into a fully equipped home gym. Barn-style doors can be opened directly onto the garden. Even with this thoroughly modern inclusion, its white weatherboard exterior allows it to blend seamlessly with the century-old main house.
Amanda Seyfried’s Los Angeles home is currently listed with Justin Paul Huchel of Carolwood Estates. The actor now primarily lives on a 1930s farm in New York’s Catskills, with her husband, actor Thomas Sadoski, their two children and an ever-growing menagerie of rescue animals. Seyfriend has described moving to the country as the best decision she could have made for her “privacy, peace and nature.” Looking at this rustic LA home, however, it seems she had already begun bringing a little country charm to Hollywood long before she left.
