Angelina Jolie is parting ways with one of Hollywood’s most storied homes.
The Oscar-winning actress has quietly listed her sprawling Los Angeles estate for approximately AUD$42 million.
It is a property steeped in cinematic history and once owned by legendary filmmaker Cecil B. DeMille, Notably, the sale comes nearly a decade after Jolie purchased the residence following her split from actor Brad Pitt.
It is set within the exclusive gated enclave of Laughlin Park in Los Feliz. The estate spans more than two acres and offers a rare glimpse into Old Hollywood grandeur. At its heart sits an elegant Beaux-Arts-inspired mansion of around 11,000 square feet, complete with six bedrooms and 10 bathrooms.
But it’s the property’s rich history that truly sets it apart.
The fascinating history behind the estate

Originally built in 1913 by architect B. Cooper Corbett, the residence later became part of Hollywood history when pioneering filmmaker Cecil B. DeMille purchased the property in 1916.
Over time, he expanded the residence. He transformed it into a gathering place for some of Hollywood’s most influential figures. At one point, DeMille even purchased the neighbouring home once owned by Charlie Chaplin. He connected the two properties with a glass corridor.
The addition reflected DeMille’s growing influence during the Golden Age of cinema and helped cement the estate’s reputation as a gathering place for some of the entertainment industry’s most powerful figures. More than a century later, the corridor remains one of the property’s most distinctive historical details and a rare physical link between two giants of early Hollywood.
Inside the Los Feliz enclave

Nestled within the gated community of Laughlin Park in Los Feliz, the estate occupies one of Los Angeles’ most coveted addresses.
Today, the estate remains a showcase of timeless luxury. The grounds include a guest house, pool house, fitness studio, tea house and extensive gardens. Its elevated positioning delivers sweeping views across the Hollywood Hills and towards Griffith Observatory.

Jolie purchased the property in 2017 for approximately US$24.5 million. Since then, she has used it as her primary family home.
While the listing celebrates the home’s remarkable Hollywood legacy, the owners have released very few interior images. This has preserved an air of mystery around one of Los Angeles’ most iconic celebrity residences.
For architecture lovers and film buffs alike, it’s a rare opportunity to own a genuine piece of Hollywood history.
Why celebrities continue to flock to Laughlin Park
While Beverly Hills and Malibu may attract much of the attention, Laughlin Park has long been one of Los Angeles’ most coveted celebrity enclaves. Tucked behind gates in the leafy hillside neighbourhood of Los Feliz, the exclusive community offers privacy, security and expansive grounds just minutes from central Hollywood.
Over the years, the neighbourhood has attracted an impressive roster of residents, including Natalie Portman, Kristen Stewart and Dax Shepard. Perched at the highest point within the enclave, Jolie’s estate enjoys sweeping views across the Hollywood Hills and toward Griffith Observatory, combining the seclusion of a private compound with close proximity to the heart of the film industry. That blend of history, prestige and privacy continues to make Laughlin Park one of Los Angeles’ most desirable celebrity addresses.
More than just a Hollywood home
In 2025, Jolie opened her home to loved ones affected by the California wildfires. At the time, an unnamed source said the actress felt “heartbroken for those who lost their homes” and was “doing everything she [could] to help.”
Jolie herself confirmed those reports later on in a Daily Mail video, claiming, “Yeah, we’re having people at our house. Right now I’m taking care of people close to me and having them at my house.”
Why Angelina Jolie is selling

In a 2024 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Jolie sparked rumors that she was considering leaving L.A. She claimed she was only living there “because I have to be here from a divorce.”
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt filed for divorce in September 2016 after two years of marriage and about 11 as a couple. Together, they share six children: Maddox, 24, Pax, 22, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 19, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 17.

Her twins will turn 18 on July 12, 2026, a milestone that may have prompted the actress to sell the property and pursue a move overseas. Jolie has previously spoken about wanting to spend more time overseas, particularly in Cambodia.
“When you have a big family, you want them to have privacy, peace, safety. I have a house now to raise my children, but sometimes this place can be … that humanity that I found across the world is not what I grew up with here.”
