Who knew Married At First Sight expert John Aiken was sitting on a real estate gold mine? The psychologist-cum-media figure has just listed his 19th century Sydney home for a whopping $5.8 million.
The Victorian estate located in the north Sydney suburb of Willoughby was originally built in 1880, and retains a lot of the home’s original period features. As well as the iconic sandstone facade, the elegant property, dubbed Tyneside, also offers high ceilings, wrought iron lacework, and ornate ceiling mouldings on the upper level. The home’s striking exterior is distinguished by its prominent balcony, decorative balustrades, and tiled patio.

Inside, most of the property has been renovated to accommodate modern living. Luxury embellishments abound, including French oak floors, imported chandeliers, and New York marble counter tops.

The seamless blending of old and new is apparent throughout the home. For example, of the home’s four fireplaces, two remain original wood-burning fireplaces, while the other two have been renovated into gas heaters.
The property boasts five bedrooms and two bathrooms, plus an additional self-contained guest studio. Multiple living and dining areas exist inside and out, including a formal dining room (complete with a bar), an upper-level rumpus room and an attic.

The timeless main bathroom is complete with copper sinks and tap ware to complement the raw sandstone wall.

As far as outdoor facilities go, Tyneside offers sunny, manicured grounds, including a pool, spa and outdoor entertaining area, complete with travertine alfresco tiles. A self irrigating garden of sky-reaching greenery provides privacy for an idyllic backyard retreat.
The property is available to view through private inspection to be arranged with the listing agents at McGrath. The auction is due to take place on March 5, 2026. See more images below, or view the complete image set and details at realestate.com.au.
