The only dish brush you’ll ever need to buy

The perfect dish brush has entered the kitchen.
One Brush recycled plastic dish brush Yeseco black and white

Your search for the perfect dish brush is over.

If you’re on the hunt for a range of stylish eco-accessories for your home, this designer might just have the answer you (and the planet!) are looking for. Coming from years of research, product design, development and determination, the One Brush from Yesēco is a triumph of engineering and perseverance – in a dish brush!

“I wanted to make a difference,” says designer and Yesēco founder Jamie Phillips. He started in the kitchen when looking to create a solution to the plastic epidemic we all face – with more being produced in the last 10 years than in the entire last century and less than 5% of that plastic being recycled. Creating an entire range of stylish eco-friendly kitchen tools, at the core of which is a dish brush that is smart, beautiful to look at, a pleasure to use and doesn’t harm the planet.

“I wanted to be part of the solution rather than just talking about what was wrong with the world,” says Jamie. I can’t argue with that. I was so impressed with his endeavour that I jumped on to Jamie’s Kickstarter campaign when he launched the first iteration of the One Brush back in 2021. What no one saw coming, however, was a global pandemic that put something of a speed bump in the process. Yet rather than lie down in defeat, Jamie rallied and researched, tweaked and tried new designs to make the One Brush even better – and he’s not finished yet.

Yeseco One Brush review verdict

  • Our rating: (9 out of 10)
  • Why we rated it a (9/10): It’s the perfect dish brush to have and to hold. Fill it with dishwashing liquid and leave it in pride of place clipped cleverly inside your kitchen sink. Just position the bristles horizontally so the soap doesn’t drain away.

Pros

  • Patented design made from 100% recycled materials
  • A handy magnetic holder that sits just inside your sink to drain and dry
  • Gorgeous design means you don’t have to hide it away in a cupboard
  • Dish soap reservoir for on-the-spot scrubbing
  • Replaceable heads made from sustainable sisal fibre

Cons

  • Liquid dish soap can leak if not screwed tightly to avoid air bubbles
  • Bamboo brush heads can go mouldy, but recycled plastic models avoid this issue
  • The magnet won’t grip through thick fireclay sinks
  • May feel crowded when positioned inside a smaller kitchen sink

What’s so special about the One Brush by Yeseco?

The One Brush by Yesēco is comfortable to hold, will last forever and makes you feel virtuous as a consumer. Product design at its best, founder Jamie Phillips has produced an affordable, stylish solution to an everyday dilemma by making the best dish brush money can buy.

“The idea for Yesēco came from my own frustration of seeing my kitchen bench covered with unnecessary plastic items that would taint the environment forever,” says Jamie. “I wanted to start solving small problems on a big scale,” Phillips in launching the first instalment of eco-friendly kitchen tools that strive to reduce unnecessary plastic waste in the home, and look beautiful on your kitchen bench.

“It might seem like a small gesture, but every household and office has a kitchen, and it’s something small that can work towards a bigger solution.”

One Brush materials and size

Made from 100% recycled materials, you’ll never need to replace this dish brush.

  • Handle is 100% recycled plastic
  • Bristles are sisal fibe from the agave plant – a by-product of making tequila
  • Bamboo brush heads have recently been replaced with recycled plastic heads to manage quality control and longevity of the brush
  • Dimensions: Handle – 240 x 55mm, Magnetic Stand – 33 x 25mm

How to use One Brush

  1. Remove the brush from the (beautiful) packaging and unscrew the base.
  2. Remove the magnetic stand from inside the brush base.
  3. Separate the two parts of the magnetic stand and open your kitchen sink door to position one part on either side of your sink, with the scooped section on the inside of the sink
  4. Clip the magnet pieces together and position the scooped holder and place the brush so that it sits horizontally in your sink (and your soap doesn’t drip out)
  5. Fill the handle cavity to the very top to avoid air bubbles and regulate a nice consistent flow of dish soap

Results from our test

I love this brush. Not only because I feel positively wholesome using it, but because it does what it says on the box (did I mentioned the gorgoeus packaging?!) The bristles are just the right firmness to shift food from plates, pots and pans; the brush head fits inside glassware; having the dish soap in constant supply saves hassle; and I’m not afraid to leave it in plain sight in my kitchen sink because it looks so good.

I’ll note here that after feedback from customers, Yesēco has phased out the original bamboo brush heads and replaced them with brush heads made from 100% recycled plastic. Unlike the bamboo heads that went into our compost bins, these will need to go to landfill when we’re finished with them but they’ll last for months and you can refresh the bristles with a vinegar soak and an afternoon in the sun.

“I realised consumers aren’t the problem; it was the lack of alternatives in the market.”

Jamie Phillips, Yesēco designer and founder

Overall, is One Brush worth it?

Considering this is the last dish brush you’ll ever need to buy, the price tag of $59.95 is totally worth it in my honest opinion. The replacement heads are 3 for $19.95 /pack of 3, and if that sounds pretty awesome, then saving $40 will surely be the icing on the cake! Simply purchase x2 BRUSHES and receive x2 FREE PACKS of brush heads… Saving $40!*
