If the recent collaboration between these two Italian icons took your breath away, with their creation of eye-catching appliances for your benchtop, you’ll love the new range of major appliances unveiled at the Milan Design Fair this week.

The “Sicily is my Love” collection is a tribute by Domencio Dolce and Stefano Gabbana’s homeland and we love how the burst of colour and pattern makes a creative culinary statement in the kitchen. The bold range goes a step further now with full sized artworks in the form of a freestanding cooker and rangehood, together with a matching FAB28 fridge for good measure.

We’re not sure if the whole suite would work well in every home but it certainly answers the question of how to inject colour into your kitchen – the bold colours and decorative motifs are Italianate in design and exuberant in nature – not for the faint-hearted!

With a choice of two motifs to work into your interior scheme, the first has rich, bold hues of fiery red and orange and depicts artwork inspired by the traditional hand-painted Sicilian cart and the island’s puppet theatre.

The second is an operatic aria of blue and white with a majolica print featuring images of Mount Etna and the ruins of the Greek temple of Castor and Pollux in the Valley of the Temples.

Drama, drama, drama!!

Behind the scenes however, Smeg deliver the good in terms of technology – beneath the marvelous murals you’ll find a Victoria TR90 Thermoseal freestanding 90cm cooker, the KT90 canopy hood and the much loved FAB28 retro refrigerator.
