The hustle and bustle of everyday life can make it tempting to favour function over style in kitchen design. In this Tamworth home, interior designer Lucinda Kimpton opted for a balanced approach, one that embraced modern convenience alongside classic, luxury detailing. The result is a white kitchen that works hard but also looks spectacular.

The white kitchen was exactly what the clients, a busy family of seven, needed. “They envisioned a kitchen that was highly functional, sophisticated and welcoming – a space that could comfortably support the demands of family life while feeling refined and enduring,” shares Lucinda.

Lucinda didn’t make structural changes to the kitchen and butler’s pantry. Instead, she refreshed the existing space. The new white kitchen included timeless Shaker-style cabinetry, alongside Calacatta Crema marble from Lamistone. This is carried across the benchtops and splashback, as well as the marble-topped island, which is practical enough for meal prep and luxurious enough for family gathering.

Tucked behind the cooking area, the butler’s pantry offers additional storage. Yet for the family, it’s all about those special moments. “The kitchen effortlessly supports shared meals, conversation and connection,” says Lucinda.
Creating a white kitchen palette

A palette of warm whites bathes this space in softness and light, creating a gentle, timeless appeal often found in Lucinda Kimpton of Kimpton Interiors’ work. Cabinetry in Dulux Ecru Quarter is set against walls in Dulux Natural White for a subtle contrast. The restrained white kitchen palette allows finer details to shine, from the ‘Cotswold’ cup pulls by Armac Martin to the island joinery, crafted from solid timber in a Dark Walnut stain.
Freestanding and integrated appliances

Hardworking appliances make cooking a breeze. “From the very start, the client and I were excited about incorporating a Lacanche oven – a stunning feature that adds character and professional-grade performance to the kitchen,” says Lucinda.

Integrated appliances maintain a clean, cohesive look while maximising space. A Fisher & Paykel integrated French door fridge and a Miele fully integrated XXL dishwasher are discreetly hidden within the cabinetry.

Strategic placement near storage further enhances the flow of daily routines. “The island drawers house everyday crockery and glassware, making for an effortless transition from dishwasher to storage,” Lucinda explains.
