The original Gilmore Girls house sits on Victoria Avenue, Unionville, a heritage neighbourhood within Markham, Ontario. It’s about a thirty minute drive from downtown Ontario.
During production of the 2000 pilot, Unionville doubled as the fictional town of Stars Hollow before filming later moved to permanent sets in Los Angeles.
Even today, fans who revisit the pilot will recognise details that never appeared again, like the home’s authentic interiors and the surrounding village streets that briefly brought Stars Hollow to life before Hollywood recreated them.
Nearby storefronts and even the local train station also appeared in the episode, making the entire neighbourhood something of a pilgrimage site for devoted fans.
