Being from Auckland, I’m used to cold weather. Or, at the very least, I’m used to being able to sleep under a doona year-round.

Now that I’m a Sydney local, I’ve had to trade my perfectly weighted quilts for cool linen sheets and an ultra-powerful pedestal fan; it might not be particularly cosy, but it is a necessary evil for those of us struggling in the Australian heat.

“As the weather begins to turn, I’m finally able to, albeit slowly, reintroduce the plush layers I’ve missed oh-so-much over the last few months.”

PARIS BLANCHFIELD

However, as the seasons begin to turn, I’m finally able to, albeit slowly, reintroduce the plush layers I’ve missed oh-so-much over the last few months. And, to celebrate, I’m treating myself to the bedroom makeover I’ve been dreaming of. From cushy quilts to calming candles and my go-to products for a great sleep, I’m dedicating this month’s edition of The Paris Edit to all things relaxation-related, so we can all enjoy a tranquil, serene, and cosy autumn.

The trend edit: piped quilt covers

Editor’s Tip: Now’s the best time to treat yourself to a quilt or pillow upgrade, as Sheridan are currently offering up to 40% off on select premium bedding basics.

My favourite trend of the season? Piped duvet covers.

Widely-adored bedding brands Bed Threads and Hommey have both released dreamy piped bedding collections in a range of covetable colourways, and all of which have made their way onto my wishlist.

My top tip: pair these gorgeous doona covers with a set of Sheridan‘s luxurious (and very clever) half quilts for customisable comfort. It’s the easiest way to keep both you and your partner snug, even if you have completely different temperature preferences. The best part? If you’re unsure of which quilt is right for you, all you need to do is take their Quilt Quiz (I got the Deluxe Feather & Down Medium Weight Quilt, and my partner was matched to the Deluxe Feather & Down Light Weight Half Quilt – a perfect example of where customisable doonas come in incredibly handy).

Embracing slow living with luxurious sleepwear

To really enhance that quintessential cosy Autumn feeling, it takes a little more than a perfectly made bed. In fact, as someone who swaps their ‘outside clothes’ for PJs the moment they arrive home, I’d argue that the most important ingredient for a cosy, quiet evening is, in fact, quality sleepwear.

From Hommey’s signature robes to Country Road’s classic sherling slippers, these sleepwear selections serve as a surefire way to relax in luxury over the colder months. As for my own wishlist, Sheet Society’s Dreamline Set is placed firmly in the #1 spot. I’ve heard glowing reviews about the plush fabrics, and their styles are all equally covetable; if you’re in the market for PJs, be sure to snap them up before I do.
